House with Natural Stone Wall

The main generator of this design was derived from the question; 'How do we create a space with great quality light and views while enabling the occupants to enjoy the outdoors in this exposed location'. Taking advantage of the surrounding views and planting is key to connecting the proposed internal spaces with the external environment. With a patio, gardens and features surrounding the south and west side of the living areas it brings harmony between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The natural stone wall was used as an architectural tool to "bed" and ground the house in the landscape, convey the essence of what it is to "dwell" or "inhabit" and to help create a sense of place.
